Hoisting Components & Spare Parts

Hoisting components.
Match the original.

Rope drums, sheaves, hook blocks, rope guides and hoisting drive parts. Find the component you need, from a replacement motor or brake to a drum assembly.

01 · Find the part

Which part
do you need?

Start with the component itself. A complete assembly may include shafts, bearings or guards that are not included with a bare replacement part.

Grooved steel rope drum with end flanges in a workshop

01 · Wind & store the rope

Rope drums

The drum winds the steel wire rope. Specify a bare drum or an assembly with the required shaft, supports and drive connection.

What to match
Rope and grooves
Provide rope diameter, drum dimensions, usable grooved length and groove direction. Include the rope entry and exit arrangement.
End connections
Send the original drawing or part number, plus photos of both ends. Identify the drive coupling or gear connection and bearing supports.
Yellow rope sheave showing its groove, central bore and four holes

02 · Guide the rope path

Sheaves

A sheave guides the rope around a grooved wheel. A wheel, a bearing-equipped sheave and a framed sheave assembly are different supply items.

What to match
Groove and wheel
Identify rope diameter, groove profile, wheel diameter and width from the original specification. Worn groove dimensions are not a replacement design.
Mounting
Check bore or shaft dimensions, hub width, bearings and spacing. For a sheave set, include the complete arrangement drawing.
Hook block showing hook body, side plates and red sheave

03 · Connect the lifting attachment

Hook blocks

A lower hook block combines the hook with its supporting assembly and sheaves. Confirm the complete block or the specific item to be replaced.

What to match
Rope arrangement
Include the hoist rating, rope diameter, sheave count and reeving drawing. Matching the tonnage alone does not establish compatibility.
Hook and clearance
Show the hook opening, attachment connection and overall block dimensions. The replacement must fit the available hook travel and headroom.
Ring-shaped rope guide with black segments and red connection pieces

04 · Follow the drum grooves

Rope guides

The guide works with the rope drum to guide winding. Ring construction and connections vary by hoist series and drum design.

What to match
Original machine
Send the complete hoist model, serial number and guide part number. A general hoist style or capacity is not enough to confirm fit.
Drum interface
Show drum diameter, groove direction, guide connections and installation position. Match the structure before considering a material alternative.

02 · Motors & drives

The parts that power
and hold the lift.

A motor, a gearbox or a complete drive assembly? Start with what needs replacing. Hoisting drives must suit the lifting duty and braking arrangement.

Teal hoisting motor showing its shaft, mounting flange and terminal box

01 · Motor or brake motor

Hoisting motors

Power the lifting motion. The photo shows a conical-rotor hoist motor; other hoists use different motor and brake arrangements.

What to match
Motor and control
Send the original nameplate: model, power, speed, voltage and duty. Identify single-speed, two-speed or inverter operation, plus any encoder or separate cooling.
Mechanical fit
Match the shaft end, mounting flange and space available. If the brake has a separate supply, include its voltage and original specification.
Separate hoisting gearbox with two shaft connections and mounting feet

02 · Gearbox or matched assembly

Hoisting gearboxes

Transmit drive to the rope drum. Order the gearbox alone or define a matched motor, gearbox and brake assembly. The photo shows a separate gearbox.

What to match
Connections and layout
Identify the reduction ratio, shaft ends, mounting position and drum connection. Include the motor-to-drum layout and parts to be reused.
Combined drives
Some hoists use a combined motor, gearbox and brake package. A three-in-one arrangement still needs to be specified for hoisting; a travel unit is not a substitute based on power alone.
External drum brake with two brake shoes, linkage and electrohydraulic thruster

03 · Brake and connection parts

Brakes & couplings

Identify the brake and transmission connections separately. This external drum brake differs from a brake built into a hoist motor.

What to match
Brake replacement
Provide the original model, braking torque, release method and mounting dimensions. State whether the request covers the brake assembly, thruster or a specified wear part.
Couplings and mating parts
For a coupling, show both shaft connections and the original part reference. Confirm whether hubs, connecting elements and fixing parts are included.
01Do you mean a trolley travel motor or a hoisting motor?

The travel motor moves the trolley across the crane. The hoisting motor raises and lowers the load. Identify the motion as well as the motor nameplate; the two functions have different selection requirements.

03 · Supply scope

A drum is one part.
An assembly is more.

State what you want to reuse and what should arrive with the replacement. The quotation should name the included components.

Check both ends

Include the connections.

These assemblies show different shaft and end connections. Specify whether the order includes the shaft, bearings, bearing housings, coupling and fixing parts; do not infer the supply scope from a catalogue photo.

01Can wire ropes and chain-hoist wear parts be included?

Identify them from the original machine and parts list. For wire rope, include the specified construction, diameter, length and end terminations. For load chain, chain wheels and guides, provide the exact hoist model and part numbers; dimensions alone do not establish interchangeability.

04 · Application contexts

Same part name.
Different installation.

The surrounding mechanism changes the information needed to identify the replacement.

  1. 01Enclosed rope hoist

    Identify the hoist series

For a guide or internal drum, start with the machine nameplate and parts list. Show the installed component as well as the loose spare.

  2. 02Open hoisting mechanism

    Show the interfaces

For a drum or fixed sheave assembly, provide the support arrangement, drive connection and rope routing. Include the parts intended for reuse.

  3. 03Lower hook block

    Show the reeving

Provide the complete block and rope arrangement. Include the lifting attachment so the hook connection and available clearance can be checked.

05 · Identify your replacement

Have a part number?
Start there.

Send the original drawing or parts-list reference when available. If it is missing, send clear photos of the machine plate, complete part and its installed position.

01Can you identify a replacement from photos alone?

Photos help identify the component family and the next measurements needed. Final matching may also require the original drawing, manufacturer records or a dimensional check. Send what you have first; confirm the remaining information before ordering.

02Which material and inspection documents should I request?

Reference the original specification or agreed replacement drawing. Confirm the material, heat treatment, dimensions and required inspection or test records in the order. A generic material name or supplier certificate does not define the finished part.

03Is this only for existing equipment?

New-machine enquiries are also possible. Provide the mechanism layout, load and duty, rope arrangement and required interfaces. Replacement dimensions can identify an existing part; a new mechanism needs its own design basis.

Complete lifting units

Need the complete hoist?

Compare complete wire-rope hoists and open winch units when the requirement extends beyond replacement parts.

06 · Ask about your part

Send the part.
And the machine details.

A few clear photos and the original reference are a useful starting point. Tell us the quantity, delivery location and whether you need a single component or an assembly.
